Candidate must be computer proficient, highly organized and pay meticulous attention to detail; have strong work ethic and prioritization skills with the ability to work well under time constraints to meet deadlines. Able to assume responsibility and work independently.
Receive, analyze and perform accurate and timely patent docketing on incoming mail.
Also responsible for report generation as requested by attorneys, some invoice tracking, ordering of patents and file histories, and other projects as assigned.
This position must work effectively with lawyers, support staff, internal clients, inventors, external law firms, vendors, and others as necessary.
Flexibility and a teamwork attitude are required.
Candidate best fitting the role will have experience in intellectual property/patent prosecution with 5+ years patent docketing experience and comprehensive knowledge of latest patent rules, both domestic and foreign.
Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint applications. Should be familiar with relevant on-line resources such as PAIR, Epoline, and Micropatent.
This is an experienced hourly paralegal position. No relocation assistance available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree plus 2-5 years of related work experience with a good understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Working knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures and practices. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has a general knowledge of technical alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the systems environment.
